The Left is already on shaky ground. But now the floor is giving out.
Because a bombshell report exposed one secret about Democrats that is destroying the entire party.
Biden’s Aides Sidestep Cognitive Test to Shield Campaign
A revealing new book, “2024: How Trump Retook the White House and the Democrats Lost America,” exposes the Biden administration’s decision to forgo a cognitive test for President Joe Biden in February 2024, driven by fears that the mere act of testing would amplify concerns about his age.
Authored by journalists Tyler Pager, Josh Dawsey, and Isaac Arnsdorf, the book, set for release in July, highlights the internal debates within Biden’s inner circle as they grappled with public perceptions of the then-81-year-old president’s fitness.
This strategic choice, made months before Biden’s faltering debate performance against President Donald Trump, underscores the vulnerabilities that ultimately paved the way for Trump’s triumphant return to the White House.
“At the same time, Mr. Biden’s longtime doctor, Kevin O’Connor, had told aides he would not take the 81-year-old president’s political standing into consideration when treating him,” The New York Times reported, citing the book. Despite confidence that Biden would pass, aides opted against the test, wary of fueling narratives that could undermine his re-election bid.
Age Concerns Amplified by Special Counsel and Allies
The decision to skip the cognitive test coincided with mounting scrutiny over Biden’s age, intensified by Special Counsel Robert Hur’s February 2024 report on Biden’s mishandling of classified documents.
Hur’s description of Biden as “a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory” struck a chord with voters, raising doubts about his capacity to lead. The timing—weeks before Biden’s White House physical exam—made the test debate a high-stakes moment for his team, who feared any misstep could bolster Trump’s narrative of a revitalized, vigorous leadership.
The book also recounts a heated 2022 exchange between Biden’s then-chief of staff, Ron Klain, and former Obama aide David Axelrod. After Axelrod warned in a Times report that Biden’s age—nearing 90 by the end of a second term—posed “a major issue,” Klain confronted him.
“That comment prompted an angry call to Mr. Axelrod from Ron Klain, then Mr. Biden’s chief of staff, according to the book. Mr. Klain wanted to know why Mr. Axelrod was fueling doubts about a Democratic president who was on track to begin a re-election campaign,” the Times noted.
Klain pressed Axelrod, saying, “There’s no Obama out there, Axe. Who’s going to do it if he doesn’t do it?” This exchange reveals the Democrats’ lack of a clear successor, a weakness Trump capitalized on in 2024.
Biden’s Debate Prep Exposed Fatigue and Disengagement
Another book, “Uncharted: How Trump Beat Biden, Harris, and the Odds in the Wildest Campaign in History” by Chris Whipple, paints a stark picture of Biden’s condition leading up to his June 2024 debate with Trump.
Ron Klain, who left his White House role but assisted with debate prep, described Biden as “fatigued, befuddled and disengaged.” Whipple writes that at a prep session in Aspen Lodge, Klain “was startled. He’d never seen him so exhausted and out of it. Biden was unaware of what was happening in his own campaign. Halfway through the session, the president excused himself and went off to sit by the pool.”
This account of Biden’s disengagement contrasts sharply with Trump’s high-energy campaign, which resonated with voters seeking decisive leadership.
The revelations from these books highlight the Biden team’s struggle to manage perceptions of his age and vitality, a battle they ultimately lost to Trump’s relentless focus on strength and renewal.
As the 2024 election underscored, voters favored Trump’s vision of a reinvigorated America over a Democratic leadership hampered by internal doubts and visible frailties.
