Democrat congressman makes a stunning confession about President Trump

Trump won’t believe it. This is a wild turn of events.

And this Democrat congressman made a stunning confession about President Trump.

A Democratic congressman from Tennessee just dropped a bombshell on live television by admitting that President Donald Trump deserves at least some credit for the falling crime rates in Memphis.

This rare moment of honesty unfolded on Monday during the broadcast of CNN News Central, as Rep. Steve Cohen discussed the situation in his own district.

The co-host Sara Sidner pressed him directly on the issue, asking if he would acknowledge Trump’s contribution to the improvements.

“Trump is taking some credit for bringing down the crime in a district that you’re well familiar with there in Memphis. Do you give him some credit for that?”

Cohen responded in a way that left little doubt about the effectiveness of the federal support pouring into the city under Trump’s direction.

“Give him a little bit of credit. We need more policemen. We’re about a thousand short in our police force. So, having additional FBI agents, having additional DEA agents, having additional [ATF] people, there are other federal law enforcement groups that have been — had to increase their enrollment here in Memphis, they have helped.”

Of course, the Democrat quickly shifted focus to local efforts, claiming the positive trend began well before any federal task force showed up.

“But the crime was going down already before the Safe Task Force started in September. It had gone down about 25 or 30% with the work of Mayor Young and police director Chief Davis.”

He further tried to paint the picture as part of a worldwide pattern, citing drops in other major cities abroad.

“And it’s gone down around the country, and around the world. I saw Mexico City’s homicide rate was down 20%.”

Then came the predictable jab at the president’s numbers, where Cohen disputed the exact percentage Trump had highlighted for Memphis.

“Trump throws out figures. He threw out a figure the last time he talked about this and said crime was down 70% in Memphis. Well, it’s better. Memphis is a great city. And everybody ought to come down and visit. Memphis in May is coming up, and Memphis is a great city to visit. But it’s not down 70%.”

Such an admission from a longtime Democratic representative exposes how President Trump’s no-nonsense policies are delivering tangible safety gains even in areas long controlled by the other side.

The American people can see for themselves that real leadership means backing the men and women in uniform, and under President Trump, crime is retreating as communities start to thrive once more.
