According to the Department of Homeland Security, the sharp decline is a direct result of the no-nonsense border policies championed by President Trump and Secretary Noem.
“President Trump and Secretary Noem have sent a clear message to illegal aliens: do not come to our country.
You will not be allowed in. And if you get in, we will hunt you down and deport you,” the department stated. “That message has been received.”
This historic drop follows a series of aggressive actions by the Trump administration to restore order at the border.
President Trump declared a border emergency, deployed the military to assist with detection and deportation, and shut down mass “parole” programs—a loophole used by the Biden administration to wave migrants through as long as they scheduled an appointment.
Without the promise of easy entry, migrants who had been waiting in Mexico are now giving up and returning home.
