Claiming something is true doesn’t make it so. But you won’t hear that from the Left.
And now a key Democrat Congresswoman utterly humiliated herself with one obvious lie.
Omar’s Claim on U.S. Safety Questioned
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), a prominent “Squad” member, stirred controversy on June 17, 2025, by asserting that “no one is attacking or has attacked Americans” in the context of the Iran-Israel conflict, urging against U.S. involvement in what she called Israel’s “chosen war.”
President Donald Trump, in a Truth Social post on June 16, demanded Iran’s “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!” while noting U.S. “patience is wearing thin” with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, though he held off on immediate strikes.
Omar’s claim, however, faces scrutiny as evidence mounts of Iran’s aggression toward Americans.
A Fox News Digital report on June 18 detailed Iran’s history of direct and proxy attacks, including a November 2024 Department of Justice case charging an Iranian and two New Yorkers in a plot to assassinate Trump, whom Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called Iran’s “enemy No. 1” on Fox News’ Bret Baier show.
Iran’s Documented Hostility Toward U.S. Forces
Omar’s assertion ignores a well-documented record of Iranian aggression. A 2019 Pentagon report cited by Military Times attributes 603 U.S. service member deaths in Iraq (2003-2011) to Iran-backed militias, accounting for 17% of U.S. losses.
Bill Roggio, a senior fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, told Fox News Digital that Iran’s support for the Taliban and al Qaeda in Afghanistan, including money, weapons, and safe havens, was “incalculable” in its impact on U.S. casualties.
In 2020, Iran fired missiles at two U.S. bases in Iraq in retaliation for the killing of Gen. Qassem Soleimani, per a CNN report.
Between October 2023 and August 2024, Iranian-backed militias launched 180 attacks on U.S. forces in Syria, Iraq, and Jordan, including a January 2024 drone strike in Jordan that killed three Americans and injured 25, as noted by Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas).
Omar’s silence on these incidents, despite inquiries from Fox News, undermines her call for peace.
Historical Precedents and Ongoing Risks
Iran’s hostility extends to historical attacks, like the 1983 Beirut bombings of the U.S. Embassy (63 deaths, 17 Americans) and multinational barracks (241 U.S. personnel), admitted by an Iranian official in 2023, per IRNA.
A 2022 U.S. District Court ruling held Iran liable for damages to families of 40 U.S. service members killed or injured in Iraq due to its terror support.
On June 14, 2025, Iranian-backed militias targeted a U.S. base in Iraq with drones, though the attack was thwarted, per Roggio’s Long War Journal.
Trump’s consideration of a “bunker buster” strike on Iran’s Fordow nuclear facility, reported by The Wall Street Journal on June 17, reflects his proactive approach to countering Iran’s nuclear ambitions and protecting U.S. interests.
