It’s a dangerous business going after criminals. And sometimes it gets messy.
Now a massive attack on ICE agents left Trump fuming mad.
ICE Officers Face Rising Threats in Protecting Americans
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers are enduring a staggering 500% surge in assaults, as reported by Breitbart News on June 19, 2025, yet their commitment to safeguarding American communities remains unshaken.
A recent incident saw an ICE officer dragged 50 yards by a car while arresting an illegal alien sex offender, per DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.
“Every day the men and women of ICE put their lives on the line to protect and defend the lives of American citizens,” she told Breitbart.
The officer is expected to recover fully, and the suspect was apprehended, showcasing ICE’s resilience.
This follows the agency’s success in achieving zero illegal immigrant releases in May 2025, a 93% drop from May 2024’s 117,905 apprehensions, per The Post.
ICE’s efforts, including a Nashville raid netting 95 criminals among 196 arrests, per The Daily Wire, directly enhance public safety by removing dangerous individuals from U.S. streets.
Antifa Riots Target ICE, Escalate Tensions
Violent attacks on ICE facilities, like the Antifa-led riot in Portland, Oregon, on June 18, 2025, reported by The Daily Wire, forced agents to deploy rubber bullets and flash bangs to protect their building.
Similar unrest in Los Angeles, Seattle, and San Francisco prompted President Trump to deploy the National Guard and Marines, a move criticized by California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, per Fox News.
These incidents highlight the dangers ICE faces in upholding immigration laws.
McLaughlin pointed to Democratic leaders’ rhetoric as a catalyst, stating, “Democrat politicians like Hakeem Jeffries, Mayor Wu of Boston, Governor Tim Walz, and Mayor Bass of Los Angeles are contributing to the surge in assaults … through their repeated vilification and demonization of ICE.”
ICE’s steadfast response, backed by Trump’s law-and-order policies, ensures communities are shielded from threats, unlike the permissive stances of some Democratic officials.
Democratic Policies Fuel Risks to Public Safety
The hostility toward ICE was exemplified when Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell doxxed federal agents in May 2025, claiming it was a “mistake,” though DHS disputed this, with McLaughlin asserting, “There’s zero chance it was a mistake and there will be repercussions.”
O’Connell’s frustration with a weeklong ICE raid that removed 95 criminals, including gang members, underscored a disconnect, as DHS noted he was “protecting illegal aliens and gang members over his constituents.”
This contrasts with Trump’s support for ICE, which has driven a 600% increase in criminal migrant arrests, per a February 2025 House Committee on Homeland Security report.
