The Politics of HollyWeird: The Royals’ Royal Cluster

Editor’s Note: Whether on screen or off, Hollywood can always be counted on to keep us entertained. This is especially true when it comes to politics. Join us each week as we shine the spotlight on Tinseltown’s A-listers and their whacky and sometimes inspiring takes on today’s current events.

Meghan and Harry Can’t Get It Together

The royal/non-royal couple just can’t stop stepping on people’s toes and getting themselves smeared across media outlets. One of the newest – and oddest – complaints comes from Native Americans sharing the land in Montecito, CA, where the couple’s $20 million mansion is located. A leader from the Barbareno-Chumash, Eleanor Fishburn, said Harry and Meghan need to stop using “holy water” from Hot Spring Creek to beautify their gardens. She explained:

“They water their lawn with holy water. For us this water is a pure water, a holy water and a ceremonial water.

As a native population, it is sacred for us and the idea that people in the area are using water from springs to water their gardens is something that doesn’t sit well with us.”

According to the West Australian, “The Barbareno-Chumash tribe once lived along the coast of California and the centuries-old remains of a man, believed to be from the tribe, was found close to the Sussexes mansion recently.” Fishburn said she has invited Meghan and Harry to meet with the tribe to discuss other available water sources.

No Dumbarton Title for Archie

On their wedding day, Meghan and Harry were given the titles Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Earl and Countess of Dumbarton, and Baron and Baroness Kilkeel by Queen Elizabeth. Now, however, the woke couple do not want their son Archie to get the title of Earl of Dumbarton because “dumb” is in the name, and they fear he will be bullied. Twitter was aflutter with jibes and contempt for the couple’s reluctance. Some speculate they’re holding out for the title of “Earl of Wokingham” and claim insult to the citizens of Dumbarton.

The Earl of Dumbarton is a historic Scottish title that had been extinct for more than 250 years. The first person to receive the title was George Douglass, a soldier who was made Lord of Ettrick in the 1670s during the reign of Charles II. The title became extinct in January 1749 when the second Earl died without an heir, and it was reinstated with Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding. Dumbarton – or Dūn Breatann, in Gaelic – can be traced back to the Iron Age. It has a rich history and is well-known as the place William Wallace was captured and imprisoned in 1305. Dumbarton Castle is a popular tourist spot today.

Cheers And Jeers

Sometimes, HollyWeird players make headlines for silly or bizarre happenings, so here is a collection of newsworthy doings — honorable and dishonorable — by the tenants of Tinseltown.

Bill Cosby Free

Dr. Bill Cosby was released from prison after his conviction was overturned by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Liberty Nation Legal Affairs Editor Scott D. Cosenza, Esq. explained the processes, which you can read about here.

Brady Bunch

Brady Bunch in Drag

Sitcom classics are now falling victim to social justice warriors. HollyWeird has decided it’s a good idea to revamp some of these favorites – as drag queen comedies. Paramount+ will be streaming “Dragging the Classics: The Brady Bunch” as its first project.  It is projected to be a combination of the casts of the original show and RuPaul’s Drag Race in a retelling of the season two episode: “Will the Real Jan Brady Please Stand Up.” It was scheduled to air on June 30.

Randy Barbato, the executive producer for World of Wonder, said airing this show during Pride month was very important:

“For so long, ‘The Brady Bunch’ has represented the idyllic aspirational mixed family, but by mixing the stars of the original cast with the stars of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race,’ we have been able to remind folks of the true meaning and value of family.” Disney+ will also be getting in on the action with an LGBTQ Pride concert starring drag queen Nina West, who will be performing popular Disney songs with Pride themes.

Manson to Turn Himself In

Singer Marilyn Manson is expected to turn himself in to the Los Angeles Police Department to face assault charges from 2019.  The alleged incident took place in Gilford, New Hampshire, at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion, where he reportedly assaulted a videographer. This case is not related to the numerous others involving abuse to women the rock star faces.

Anti-Vax Protest at Springsteen Concert

Legendary rock star Bruce Springsteen held the first Broadway production to reopen post-pandemic. “Springsteen on Broadway” stems from his 2016 autobiography, Born to Run, and features The Boss narrating chapters and performing on both guitar and piano. However, if you weren’t able to show proof of COVID vaccination, you couldn’t attend the concert.

Protesters showed up outside the St. James Theatre shouting and holding signs with such messages as “Unmasked, unvaxxed, unafraid,” “No vax passports,” and “Bruce Springsteen is for segregation on Broadway.”

Kardashian Underwear for the Olympics

Kim Kardashian said her stepfather, Caitlyn Jenner, got her interested in the Olympics, which made her want to get involved somehow. Her contribution turned out to be providing the teams with her SKIMS underwear collection. She tweeted: “I am honored to announce that @skims is designing the official team USA undergarments, pajamas and lounge wear for the athletes this year in Tokyo.” She added that the same outfits will be available to the public to purchase online on July 12.

Tune in next week to see what else Tinseltown has planned.
