The ladies of The View are rabid Trump haters. Now they’re taking it to new levels.
And The View made an announcement about Trump that has Republicans rolling their eyes.
The View has found itself in the media spotlight since President-elect Trump’s sweeping victory, with questions arising about whether the outspokenly anti-Trump ABC talk show will shift its tone. For critics hoping for change, though, an insider says that’s unlikely.
The cast of The View shared a collective disappointment over Trump’s win against Vice President Kamala Harris, who all six co-hosts, including self-identified Republicans Ana Navarro and Alyssa Farah Griffin, had openly supported.
Rumors have swirled around whether The View would seek out voices that resonate with the 75 million Americans who supported Trump.
But a source at ABC rebuffed that speculation, telling Fox News Digital, “There is definitely a network-wide push and sense of responsibility to give a voice to the Trump electorate. But ‘The View’ didn’t have a pro-Trump voice during his first term, and that’s not expected to change.”
The insider added, “Expect to see Trump officials invited on in 2025,” hinting that the show may, at least, consider voices from the new administration as guests.
The show’s last consistent conservative voice was Meghan McCain, who co-hosted from 2017 to 2021. Although she wasn’t a Trump backer, she often clashed with the liberal panel in defense of conservative issues.
McCain, whose father was the late Senator John McCain, recently called out ABC for its lack of a pro-Trump perspective on The View, especially following Trump’s victory.
“If every panelist voted for Kamala Harris, that’s not a representation of America,” McCain said to Fox News Digital.
“Millions of conservative women are looking to see themselves represented. ABC has basically written off conservative women as if they don’t matter.”
In her critique, McCain argued that The View has little tolerance for conservative viewpoints. “They see conservative women as traitors to their gender,” she added.
“It’s so hostile that they make sure no conservative wants to stick around. Trust me, I’ve experienced it.”
ABC News didn’t directly respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
However, an ABC representative pointed out that The View is thriving with its current format, claiming, “The current panel is resonating with audiences, as the show just achieved its highest-rated episode in over a decade and hit a 4-year peak in total viewers.”
After McCain’s exit in 2021, ABC News spent months searching for another conservative voice, ultimately choosing Navarro and Griffin in 2022.
But instead of the spirited debate McCain had brought, the anti-Trump stance of both women has contributed to a one-sided dynamic.
Navarro, a vocal supporter of Biden’s campaign, even co-hosted a segment of the Democratic National Convention this year.
It remains to be seen whether The View will bring in a strong conservative voice or continue to sideline Trump’s supporters.
With Trump’s latest victory, the call for a broader range of voices may only grow louder.
