Breaking U.S. House news has Kamala Harris and Democrats quaking in fear

All eyes are on the race between Harris and Trump. But Congress has been busy behind the scenes.

And this breaking U.S. House news has Kamala Harris and Democrats quaking in fear.

U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson isn’t exactly the most beloved Republican in Congress amongst conservative voters and the broader Republican voting base. He’s had his missteps in the eyes of conservatives who want to put an end to the expensive proxy wars America is currently stuck in. Mike Johnson has been playing along with these proxy wars.

That being said, he’s been more willing than Republican leaders in the U.S. House in recent memory to actually go on offense against the Democrats who have been largely dominating the shift of policy in Congress. A major concern for Republicans over the past several years has been the Party falling far behind the Democrats in the fundraising game.

Well Mike Johnson has been busy trying to change that. According to new reports, Mike Johnson has been hauling in fundraising for the Republican Party at record levels during a U.S. Presidential election year. This news is certain to make Democrats, including Kamala Harris, very nervous just weeks before the election.

Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson Reports Record Fundraising in Q3 2024

In a significant development for the Republican Party, House Speaker Mike Johnson raised an impressive $27.5 million during the third quarter of 2024, according to a report from Punchbowl News. This figure, which Johnson’s office has touted as record-breaking, comprises over $8 million earmarked for individual candidates and members, alongside more than $19.4 million allocated to Johnson’s fundraising committees.

Since taking on the role of speaker following the ousting of Kevin McCarthy in October 2023, Johnson has contributed a substantial $26 million to the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC). McCarthy was well-known for his fundraising capabilities, and Johnson’s recent achievements signal a vigorous effort to maintain momentum heading into the 2024 presidential election.

Amid rising concerns about the Democrats’ substantial campaign funds, Republican leaders have intensified their fundraising efforts. Recent reports indicate that Democrats outspent Republicans on political advertisements in August across nearly all major competitive Senate races.

Further bolstering Republican fundraising initiatives, the Congressional Leadership Fund (CLF), a super Political Action Committee endorsed by House Republican leadership and Johnson, announced a commitment of $18.5 million for new advertising reservations in September. This allocation includes $1.4 million for digital advertising and over $1.75 million for radio advertisements.

The CLF also reported raising a total of $81.4 million in the third quarter, surpassing its previous record of $77.4 million set during the same period in 2020. “We continue to raise at levels that allow us to be incredibly impactful this cycle,” CLF President Dan Conston stated. “These crucial resources have enabled us to invest deeply and strategically add more in the must-win races that will determine the Majority.”

Despite these gains, challenges remain for Republicans, particularly as Democrats have shown stronger fundraising in key swing states. For instance, in July, the Democratic Party of Arizona raised $1.2 million, while their Republican counterparts managed to gather only $552,000. This trend of Democrats outpacing Republicans in fundraising has been observed in several crucial battleground states, including Minnesota and Wisconsin.

As the 2024 election cycle heats up, the ability of both parties to secure necessary funding will be critical in shaping the political landscape.

The Jury Is Still out On Mike Johnson’s Legacy As U.S. House Leader

It’s up to Mike Johnson to prove to the Republican Party and, more importantly, the Republican voting base that he won’t be a generic RINO who will only give in to the Democrats and play Washington, D.C. political softball games. If he can’t, he may not be the default to win the House Speakership should the GOP retain U.S. House majority control.

One of the top issues conservative voters are concerned about and pressing their elected officials on is the constant waste of taxpayer dollars on proxy wars in the Middle East and in Ukraine. On this issue, Mike Johnson has been trying to distance himself from these proxy wars in recent weeks.
