A senior aide to Joe Biden has admitted that the Biden administration deliberately misled the American public by downplaying concerns about the then-president’s age and mental fitness—even as aides panicked behind the scenes.
Biden Team Knew Age Was a Problem “From Day One”
Michael LaRosa, a former White House aide and longtime press secretary for Jill Biden, confessed that the Biden campaign was aware of Biden’s age problem from the very beginning—and they were “scared to death” of allowing him to speak unscripted ahead of the election.
“Cover-up to me is a little harsh. Every politician, everybody, every human being tries to cover up age. We were always, from day one, cognizant that age was an issue,” LaRosa admitted during a Science Institute seminar at American University on Wednesday, as reported by Puck.
LaRosa didn’t hold back, directly accusing the Biden administration of gaslighting the American public:
“There are some things that are true, I mean, like the gaslighting. There was a lot of denial of the polling. And I will use the term gaslighting because that’s what they were doing. The message to everybody was to make sure that you tell people it’s too early.”
White House Hid Biden’s Mental Decline From the Public
While Biden repeatedly stumbled in public—both verbally and physically—the White House maintained the charade that he was in good health. But according to LaRosa, behind closed doors, panic had taken over the Biden team.
“The president’s team was scared to death of impromptu, unscripted, unrehearsed, unpracticed, unchoreographed, anything,” LaRosa revealed. “They just couldn’t do it… They didn’t trust their own candidate.”
Even though Biden “loved TV” and was willing to engage with the media, his own aides didn’t believe he could handle it:
“When he needed [the press] the most, they didn’t trust him… and he was politically dead,” LaRosa added.
Biden’s Collapse Leads to Kamala Harris Takeover
Despite the administration’s cover-up, Biden’s frequent gaffes, moments of confusion, and embarrassing stumbles caused his poll numbers to plummet. The pressure finally became too much, leading to Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 race and his endorsement of Kamala Harris.
This revelation comes as CNN’s Jake Tapper faces backlash for his role in covering up Biden’s mental decline. Tapper’s new book, co-authored with Dana Bash, details the extreme measures the Biden administration took to hide his cognitive struggles—even though Tapper himself repeatedly dismissed concerns during the campaign.
