The Department of Education is shredding documents after Trump made this one order

The Swamp is panicking like never before. They know Trump is back with a vengeance.

And the Department of Education is shredding documents after Trump made this one order.

The Department of Education took decisive action Thursday to eliminate Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, shutting down controversial training programs and placing DEI administrators on paid leave.

In a statement, the department explained: “These actions are in line with President Trump’s ongoing commitment to end illegal discrimination and wasteful spending across the federal government.

They are the first step in reorienting the agency toward prioritizing meaningful learning ahead of divisive ideology in our schools.”

This announcement comes just days after President Trump issued an executive order declaring DEI policies “illegal” and warning they “threaten the safety of American men, women, and children across the Nation by diminishing the importance of individual merit, aptitude, hard work, and determination when selecting people for jobs and services in key sectors of American society.”

The executive order also mandates federal agencies to “combat illegal private-sector DEI preferences, mandates, policies, programs, and activities.”

In line with these directives, the Department of Education disbanded the Diversity & Inclusion Council, originally established under President Barack Obama, along with two other DEI-related entities.

The department also canceled DEI training programs and service contracts worth more than $2.6 million and rescinded the controversial “Equity of Action Plan.”

Additionally, more than 200 web pages promoting DEI resources and encouraging schools and higher education institutions to adopt divisive ideological programs have been removed, according to the department’s press release.

The move sparked mixed reactions. Everett Kelley, president of the American Federation of Government Employees National, criticized Trump’s executive order, claiming it undermines federal hiring practices.

“Undoing these [DEI] programs is just another way for President Trump to undermine the merit-based civil service and turn federal hiring and firing decisions into loyalty tests,” Kelley stated. He also echoed concerns from military leaders who have suggested that eliminating DEI programs within the Defense Department could harm military readiness.

On the other hand, critics of DEI welcomed the move, describing such initiatives as immoral and divisive.

David Burton, senior fellow in economic policy at the Thomas A. Roe Institute, wrote in December, “Morally, DEI represents a marked step backwards. It is rejection of the principle that people should be judged on the content of their character and their individual achievement rather than their s*x, race, national origin, ethnicity, or s*xual orientation.”

Tim Walberg, Chairman of the Education and Workforce Committee and a Republican from Michigan, expressed a similar view last week.

“Instead of merit, skills, and ability,” Walberg said, “DEI devotees pushed policies that are antithetical to American exceptionalism.”

Walberg further added:

“From the classroom to the boardroom, Americans have felt the negative effects. DEI has bloated education budgets while telling students what to think instead of how to think.”

The Department of Education’s move marks a significant step in dismantling DEI policies that critics argue have prioritized ideological conformity over individual achievement and merit.
