Trump campaign prepares new attack on Kamala Harris she’ll never see coming

Donald Trump has found a new path to victory. It’s one no one expected to open up.

That’s why the Trump campaign is preparing a new attack on Kamala Harris she’ll never see coming.

In Michigan, Republicans are seizing on Vice President Kamala Harris’ difficulties in connecting with blue-collar voters, a demographic that has historically leaned Democratic but is increasingly swaying towards former President Donald Trump.

Victoria LaCivita, Team Trump Michigan Communications Director, said of this: “Michigan’s working class isn’t fooled by Kamala Harris’ word salads and dog and pony shows. Her policies, like the radical Green New Deal, are anti-worker. Her attack on American energy has made the cost of living unaffordable, and her plan to ban gas-powered cars will decimate the backbone of our economy.”

As the upcoming election intensifies, the importance of Michigan as a swing state is underscored by the Real Clear Politics polling average, which shows Harris with a narrow lead of just 0.5 points. With less than four weeks until the election, Republican figures like Trump and his running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance, have made several campaign stops in the state.

Democratic leaders in Michigan, including Governor Gretchen Whitmer, have expressed concerns about Harris’ viability in the state and are urging her to increase her visibility and refine her economic messaging. An article in the Wall Street Journal highlights these worries, noting that prominent Democrats are advising the Harris campaign to concentrate efforts in Michigan as the election approaches.

Harris faces challenges in distancing herself from prior positions that have not resonated well in the so-called “Blue Wall” states, including her past support for transitioning to zero-emissions vehicles by 2035 and her stance on fracking. An internal poll shared with the Wall Street Journal indicated that Harris is trailing by three points in Wisconsin, another key Midwestern state that shares similar voting patterns with Michigan.

Former Michigan Governor James Blanchard emphasized the need for Harris to increase her visibility: “The big thing is people don’t know her—they need to see more of her.” Republicans argue that her failure to effectively reach out to blue-collar workers has allowed Trump to gain traction among this crucial voter base.

Mike Marinella, a spokesperson for the National Republican Congressional Committee, noted that Harris’ message is not resonating with working-class voters in the upper Midwest, which could have implications for down-ballot Republicans in these critical states.

The vice president’s struggles extend to union members, a traditionally Democratic stronghold in Michigan. An internal poll from the Teamsters, one of the nation’s largest unions, revealed that 61.7% of members preferred Trump over Harris, who garnered just 35.2%. Notably, while national union leaders have refrained from endorsing a candidate this election cycle, they had supported Biden in 2020.

Despite losing ground with the Teamsters, Harris did secure endorsements from the United Auto Workers and the Service Employees International Union. LaCivita commented on the Teamsters’ poll results: “The Teamsters’ own polling shows exactly what we knew—that rank and file Michigan Teamsters are supporting President Trump and his pro-worker policies. While local chapter leadership refuses to disrupt the status quo, the Michiganders who make up these chapters want strong leadership that will protect their jobs, lower inflation, and support American industries—and that’s President Donald J. Trump.”

As the election draws nearer, the battle for Michigan’s working-class voters remains a focal point for both parties, reflecting the shifting dynamics of voter allegiance in this pivotal state.

Kamala Worse Off Than Biden In Race Against Trump?

Some anonymous Democrat officials have been murmuring in recent weeks that they are concerned the Party made the wrong decision to kick Joe Biden to the curb and install Kamala Harris as the nominee without any legitimate process to gird her campaign.

Joe Biden did in fact earn the nomination by earning the votes of tens of millions of Democrats, particularly those in the Rust Belt who delivered him his contentious win in 2020. They’ve called him “union Joe” for years for a reason.

Kamala Harris doesn’t have that same appeal with everyday Americans that both Donald Trump and Joe Biden do. She’s a prosecutor from California who truly doesn’t know how to connect with blue-collar workers and address their concerns at all. That’s why she’s so far underwater compared to Joe Biden.
