The Soros family has been funding the Left for years. Now they’re getting their back scratched too.
And Biden-Harris handed the Soros family a total victory that is impacting millions.
The U.S. House Oversight Committee is now investigating why the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) fast-tracked a deal that allowed a billionaire Democratic donor to acquire a significant number of American radio stations just weeks before the presidential election.
The move has raised eyebrows as the deal involves none other than George Soros, a well-known Democratic mega-donor.
Audacy Inc., a major radio company, found itself in financial trouble. Through a complex series of transactions, Soros has managed to take control of the stations.
Normally, deals of this magnitude require a thorough review process by the FCC, but in this instance, the approval was expedited, sparking concern.
FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr didn’t hold back at a Congressional hearing, saying, “… the FCC is not following its normal process for reviewing a transaction.”
Carr explained, “We have established over a number of years one way in which you can get approval from the FCC when you have an excess of 25 percent foreign ownership, which this transaction does. It seems to me that the FCC is poised to create, for the first time, an entirely new shortcut.”
Carr’s comments shed light on the unusual speed at which the deal was moving.
House Oversight Chair Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) and Rep. Nick Langworthy (R-N.Y.) sent a letter to FCC Chair Jessica Rosenworcel, voicing their concerns about the rushed approval.
The letter read: “Despite the unprecedented nature of this action, the FCC majority has apparently decided to approve licenses on an accelerated timeframe for a company in which George Soros has a major ownership stake, and with stations in 40 media markets reaching ‘more than 165 million Americans.’”
The lawmakers didn’t mince words, accusing the FCC of bypassing established processes to benefit Soros and his political influence just ahead of a critical election.
Critics argue that this deal gives Soros, a staunch liberal, too much power in influencing public opinion right before Americans head to the polls.
Mike Gonzalez, a former member of the George W. Bush administration and current Heritage Foundation fellow, raised alarms:
“I have no idea why Soros would do this unless it was to manipulate the thinking of Americans and the information they listen to.”
Gonzalez pointed to conservative talk radio as a key platform for conservative voices, noting, “Conservative talk radio is huge, and there is no left-wing talk radio because it’s just not interesting.
Conservative talk radio is one of the few communications that conservatives have not a monopoly on but have a strong handle on, and he has bought stations that have Mark Levin and Sean Hannity and Dana Loesch and Glenn Beck.”
Further complicating the deal, critics have also pointed out that Soros’ business partners include foreign entities, raising questions about external influence.
According to the letter from Reps. Comer and Langworthy, the Audacy Inc. deal “will lead to Audacy, Inc. being partially ‘directly or indirectly controlled’ by foreign individuals or entities holding ‘more than one-fourth of the capital stock,’” a scenario requiring careful FCC scrutiny to ensure the public interest is protected.
While media moguls like Jeff Bezos have faced scrutiny for their ownership of influential outlets like The Washington Post, Soros’ control over a vast number of radio stations may wield even more influence over the electorate, given the widespread reach of radio across the country.
Soros has long been one of the most strategic funders of left-wing causes in the U.S., and many believe this radio acquisition is a calculated move to extend his influence even further.
“I don’t know why else he would plunk a pile of money this size unless it was to try to have influence over the thinking of Americans,” Gonzalez said, further adding that Soros “is committed to left-wing causes.”
With the FCC facing serious questions and a Congressional inquiry underway, this deal is likely to remain in the spotlight as the election draws closer.
