Most Hollywood stars are leftists. That isn’t shocking at all.
But this Hollywood star made a surprising endorsement that’s left Democrats flabbergasted.
In a stunning break from Hollywood’s usual loyalty to the left, leftist supporter Debra Messing has thrown her weight behind Republican Bruce Blakeman in the race for New York governor.
The Will & Grace actress stood with the GOP candidate and delivered a clear message of support that has caught the attention of anyone paying attention to the state’s downward spiral.
Messing said to Blakeman, “You are what we need more than anything.”
The comment came during a fundraiser in Manhattan, where the two discussed the urgent need for new leadership in Albany.
Blakeman, positioned next to Messing in a clip that was gathered by the New York Post, praised her commitment.
“She is trying as hard as she can to save New York and make sure it’s safe for Jewish people to live in this community, and to live in this state,” he stated.
Messing did not hold back in her own remarks.
“I am so grateful that you are running. You are what we need more than anything,” she said.
Her words carried the weight of someone who has watched her state change for the worse and decided enough was enough.
She went further in describing the damage she has witnessed.
“The decline in this city over the last four years has been so exponential and devastating,” Messing stated.
“Economically, socially, and on every level. And, obviously, we’ve lost so much business here. People are leaving the city.”
Those observations match what ordinary New Yorkers have been saying for years while Democratic leaders dismissed their concerns.
