The Obamas don’t know when to quit. And now everyone is calling out their antics.
Because Barack Obama looked like an utter buffoon after making this outrageous statement.
Obama’s Controversial Podcast Remarks Spark Outrage
Barack Obama’s appearance on Marc Maron’s podcast finale stirred up a storm online after a clip surfaced of him advocating for a depoliticized Justice Department, FBI, and judiciary—words that many saw as a veiled jab at Donald Trump’s handling of Immigration and Customs Enforcement amid rising urban tensions. In what appeared to be a critique of Trump’s ICE strategies, Obama inadvertently spotlighted the contradictions of his own tenure, drawing sharp rebukes for perceived double standards.
“That’s not who we are. That’s not our idea of America,” Obama said of the crackdown on urban crime — and the use of ICE agents and National Guard troops to keep order. “We don’t want masked folks with rifles and machine guns patrolling our streets. We want cops on the beat who know the neighborhood and the kids around, and that’s how we keep the peace around here.”
Shifting to the legal realm, he continued, “We don’t want kangaroo courts and trumped up charges. That’s what happens in other places that we used to scold for doing that. We want our court system and our Justice Department and our prosecutors and our FBI to be, just playing things straight and looking at the facts and not meddling in politics the way we’ve seen lately. And I think if enough people start not to being in a fetal position, but also not being — just not worrying about it and and detached from it, but being vigilant, but also saying, you know what – yeah, we can stand up to this. We can call it like we see it. We need people who have whatever platforms they have to be able to say, no, that’s not who we are, and to be willing to get attacked on X by whoever for doing that. And it’s not easy.”
Backlash Highlights Obama’s Own Legacy of Politicization
Detractors wasted no time in highlighting how Obama’s administration weaponized federal agencies against political foes, from aggressive lawsuits against religious groups like the Little Sisters of the Poor to the IRS’s biased scrutiny of conservative organizations and the DOJ’s role in fueling investigations into Trump. These examples painted Obama’s call for impartiality as deeply ironic, especially given his oversight of what many view as a deeply partisan era in federal enforcement.
“Irony alert,” Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) posted.
“He’s desperate. His legacy is trash and he knows it,” Senator Eric Schmitt (R-MO) added.
Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) added, “Says the guy who presided over the fabrication of the Russian collusion narrative and the IRS targeting of conservatives …”
Rep. Greg Steube (R-FL) added, “Barack Obama has no business lecturing anyone about ‘playing things straight.’ Under Obama’s watch: His IRS targeted conservatives; His DOJ spied on reporters; His FBI wiretapped the Trump campaign; His administration pushed the Russiagate hoax against Trump. Obama set the standard for political meddling, and thank goodness President Trump is there to clean up the mess he and Biden left behind.”
“The audacity of hypocrites like @barackobama is breathtaking, after what he did to his political opponents,” actor Nick Searcy commented.
“This is parody, right?” Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah) asked.
Escalating Dangers for ICE in a Polarized Climate
Obama’s remarks, which seemed to undermine Trump’s ICE initiatives by portraying them as overreach, have only amplified the challenges faced by federal agents today. Under the lingering influence of Obama’s politicized playbook, ICE personnel are increasingly compelled to safeguard their own lives from violent American rioters who mobilize against immigration enforcement.
In chaotic urban scenes, agents encounter not just non-compliant suspects but aggressive mobs of citizens hurling objects and creating hazardous standoffs, forcing the use of defensive tactics like tear gas while navigating threats from cartels and local agitators—all amid a narrative of “resistance” that Obama’s comments appear to tacitly encourage, leaving agents vulnerable in their duty to uphold the law.
