The former and current first lady had a lot to discuss. Now we’re seeing for the first time what was actually said.
As details of a secret phone call between Melania Trump and Jill Biden were finally revealed.
Melania Trump Questions Jill Biden’s Sincerity After Attempt on Donald Trump’s Life: Tensions Rise During Transition
In an interview with Paris Match just before the election, Melania Trump, the former and future first lady, disclosed that Jill Biden, the current first lady, reached out to her following the assassination attempt on President-elect Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13. However, Trump expressed doubt about Biden’s sincerity in her gesture.
“I do question, however, whether Jill’s concern was genuine, as a few days prior she referred to my husband as ‘evil’ and a ‘liar,’” Melania told the French publication.
Melania continued, reflecting on the impact of inflammatory language in the public sphere.
“It was obvious that the onslaught of rhetoric from Democrat leaders and the mainstream media was so deeply embedded in our nation’s consciousness it prompted an attempt to assassinate Donald,” she said.
Following the assassination attempt, President Biden, 81, reached out to the former president, who narrowly survived a bullet that grazed his ear. Biden reportedly expressed relief over Trump’s safety, despite their bitter political rivalry.
Throughout Donald Trump’s third campaign for the White House, Melania, 54, largely stayed out of the spotlight. However, her public presence increased in the final months of the 2024 election cycle after the release of her tell-all memoir.
In early November, she appeared alongside her husband at a rally at Madison Square Garden just days before voters cast their ballots.
Despite tradition, Melania decided to skip the customary tea between outgoing and incoming first ladies during the transition. Instead, President Biden met with Donald Trump to discuss the handover of power, while Melania’s team released a statement expressing her support for the process.
“Mrs. Trump will not be attending today’s meeting at the White House. Her husband’s return to the Oval Office to commence the transition process is encouraging, and she wishes him great success,” read the statement.
According to what sources told the New York Post, Melania’s decision to forgo tea with Jill was influenced by the FBI’s raid on Mar-a-Lago in 2022.
Melania also addressed speculation that she might not move back into the White House with her husband full-time come January, insisting her office would continue to challenge “false, misleading, and inaccurate information” spread by unnamed media sources.
In her Paris Match interview, Melania recalled her initial relief at Donald’s survival after the attack but condemned the toxic political climate that she believes fueled it.
“They want Donald out. They won’t stop. Has the concept of ‘respect’ become antiquated?” she questioned. “The Democrat political engine peddles harsh words, vile names, and labels our nation’s 45th president ‘a threat to democracy.’”
Joe Biden, who has openly labeled Trump a threat to democracy, joined in the characterizations. Meanwhile, Jill Biden, who previously described Donald Trump as a threat to women, sent Melania a congratulatory letter in lieu of tea, informing her that the transition team was prepared to assist with the handover.
On Wednesday, the Bidens welcomed Donald Trump back into the White House for the first time since his initial term concluded.
